Millions of Indians across 96 constituencies have cast their ballots as the country’s gigantic, six-week-long election edges past its halfway mark. Monday’s polling in the fourth round of election across nine states and one union territory is pivotal for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking a third straight term but facing the voters’ fury over unemployment and inflation. Modi’s Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are pitted against an alliance of more than two dozen opposition parties, including the main rival Indian National Congress party. Nadine Abdullateef, a 13-year-old Palestinian, spoke to Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum in Deir el-Balah in the Gaza Strip after she was forced to flee Rafah. The teenager said she has been displaced from “many places”, including Nuseirat, Gaza and Rafah – an experience that has left her traumatised. “My experience from Rafah to Deir el-Balah was absolutely terrifying,” she said. Nadine said finding a car was difficult and expensive, and the group she was travelling with were forced to split into two and travel at different times. Staff at universities across the Netherlands are staging a walkout. It follows a violent police crackdown on pro-Palestinian protesters on Amsterdam University's campus last week. The students are demanding the university divests from Israel linked companies and are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen has more on the walkout from Amsterdam. Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, Sarah Bracke, spoke to Al Jazeera about the student and staff protests against Israel’s war on Gaza in the Netherlands. She said the staff at three higher education institutions in Amsterdam witnessed police “violently” attempting to disperse a peaceful student encampment last Monday. She said the staff today are protesting as they want to end the university’s complicity in “the ongoing genocide” in Gaza, but also want to call out the violent methods that police have used to suppress peaceful protests. She also noted that there were Jewish staff and student protesters beaten by police despite the educational institutions claiming that police are needed to protect the safety of Jewish students on campus. Russia's President Vladimir Putin is replacing one of his longest serving ministers, in a surprise cabinet reshuffle. He's removing defence minister Sergei Shoigu from his role, more than two years into the Ukraine War. Shoigu will be replaced by former deputy prime minister Andrei Belousov - who's an economist with no military experience. The move needs approval from parliament, but is expected to be a formality. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has defended a decision to pause a delivery to Israel of 3,500 bombs over concerns they could be used in the southern city of Rafah, saying Israel lacked a “credible plan” to protect 1.4 million civilians sheltering there. Speaking to ABC News, Blinken said President Joe Biden remains determined to help Israel defend itself and the shipment of 2,000-pound (900kg) and 500-pound (225kg) bombs was the only US weapons package being withheld. That could change, he said, if Israel launches a full-scale attack on Rafah, a move that Israel says is imminent. Biden has made it clear to Israel that if it “launches this major military operation to Rafah, then there are certain systems that we’re not going to be supporting and supplying for that operation”, Blinken said. “We have real concerns about the way they’re used,” he continued.
